Varsity Drops Close Game to Jesuit

In another highly contested 9-6A series finale, the Eagles drop a heartbreaker to defending 6A State Champions Dallas Jesuit 1-0. Starting pitcher Will Duncan kept the Rangers off balance most of the night throwing 4 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits, 3 K's, 4 walks, 1 run. On the flip side Dallas Jesuit starter JJ Montenegro kept the Eagles in check as well. Richardson managed only 3 hits by Dan Wood, Mark Mercer and Grant Roberts and no runs scored, while missing several opportunities in the 2nd, 5th and 6th innings to plate a run. The only score of the game was an infield single by the Rangers Jayden Woodson in a bases loaded situation in the top of the 5th. The Eagles last and best opportunity came in the top of the 6th inning after Roberts singled with one out and pinch runner Darrien Blalock advanced to 3B on back to back passed balls but the Eagles still couldn't capitalize. Both defenses were out standing all night, highlighted by a play deep in the hole behind 2B made by Esteban Cardoza Oquendo getting the runner at first. The Eagles have fallen to 0-4 in District 9-6A play and look to get in the win column on the road this Tuesday against district leading W.T. White.
